GENERAL SITE RULES

• You may only have one account registered here. If you wish to have your name changed, please pm an administrator. Note that any new accounts you register will be deleted and you'll remain using your first and original account.
  
• Your name may only contain western characters and numerics, other characters such as Chinese are not allowed.
  
• Posts must be made in English. We cannot moderate what we cannot read. Find a translator if needed. A verbal warning will be sent out the first time you're found to be posting in non-English. Anytime thereafter will be considered a failure to comply with staff requests.
  
• There will be no abuse of the forum, e-mail, or PM system. You may not promote, plan, or facilitate any illegal activities through the forum under any circumstances. Plain and simple.
  
• You may try and exploit any bug in r00tsecurity, provided that you DO NOT destroy or cause any damage to the site or out sites hosted on the server network.
  
• Respect all other members or staff members
  
  
  • Other members of r00tsecurity should be treated to the same respect as you yourself are.
    Messages posted in the forum are written by other people and do not magically appear out of the air.
    These other people have feelings and opinions just as you do and should be treated a such.
    
    
  • Harassment of any kind is against the law and is forbidden here. If you harass anyone you shall be auto banned.
    
    
  • Don't openly argue with a moderator if they decide to
    close / delete / move a thread or issues a warning against you
    
    
  • Any issue concerning moderating or administrative action MUST be dealt with via PM, not in the form of a topic complaining about it.
    
  
  
• Don't mistake your freedom of speech with the freedom to post nonsense or content in violation of the definitions below. r00tsecurity staff has every right to keep the site free of content it deems unfitting for its name. While you will never be warned for voicing your opinion, you may be warned for the MANNER in which you voice it.
  
• Read the pinned/announcement topics in each forum first. There is information pinned in them for a reason. You can avoid confrontation and even moderating action taken against you by reading the pinned topics first.
  
• Do not encourage others to break any of the rules.
  
• Do not share your account with anyone! We will close/delete/ban any shared accounts.
  
• These rules serve to protect those who follow them, not those who don't.
  

POSTING AND REPLYING RULES

Inappropriate content is not allowed, and action may be taken against a topic for any of the following reasons:

  • Don't post porn, gross stuff, or anything else NSFW (unless noted)
    
    
  • Racism in general terms consists of conduct or words or practices which disadvantage or advantage people because of their color, culture or ethnic origin.
    
    
  • NOTE: Each forum has their own sets of rules, please read and follow them
    
    
  • Use common sense.
    
  
  
• No Spamming
  
  
  • Spam is not accepted here on r00tsecurity and neither is flaming. If you do then you will be warned by a staff member.
    
    
  • If you don't have something constructive to add to a thread, then dont post at all.
    
    
  • No "bumping" of threads because you can. There's is enough spam already.
    
  
  Moderating or administrative action may be taken against a post for any of the following reasons:
  
• Trolling
  
  
  • Continually trying to antagonize someone or a group of people
    
    
  • Insulting someone's preferred faction with no proof to back it up
    
  
  
• Contains misinformation or misleads people
  
• Contains or links to any inappropriate content
  
• The post slags off other websites or companies or it's a topic that may make a member of group of this community or another feel unwelcome here at r00tsecurity.
  

SIGNATURE AND PROFILE RULES

• Maximum size of an avatar is 90 x 90 and 50KB
  
• Profiles must not contain any disallowed material
  
• Signatures:
  
  
  • Image's max width is 500 & max height is 150
    
    
  • Images may not change pictures at any rate less than 3 per second (no flashing animations)
    
    
  • No text in signatures larger than 8 line of text using the font size 1 is allowed
    
    
  • Your signature may not contain the following: PROFANITY, RACISM, SEX, VIOLENCE OR DISRESPECT to a member
    
  
  
• All offending material will be removed with or without notice or warning by the staff.
  

OTHER RULES

Back seat Moderating
I do believe I speak for the rest of the Moderators when I say that I'm tired of seeing a lot of people doing all of this "backseat moderating". From this point forward, all "backseat moderating" posts will be deleted on sight. There are proper ways to go about doing these things. One of them is to report the post and/or topic to a Moderator, by PM'ing them a link to it. No more of this backseat Moderating stuff. It's highly annoying.

Giving Credit Where Deserved.
From now on, any guide that you take directly from a source or website, you are required to give credit. Yes I know It's not copyrighted, but it's still another person's hard work, and they deserve credit. All you have to do is put the person's name and include a link directly to the source. You can however use information from guides to create your own, but any directly quoted information must be credited.


r00tsecurity staff members reserve the right to take whatever action they feel right, as long as their actions can be justified.
